Do you know someone who takes exquisite care of themselves? You know, that gal who looks so completely put together ALL THE TIME?
I do, and while I admire their efforts, I’m kinda okay that I’m not one of them.🤷♀️ Some days a messy ponytail, comfy tee, and my favorite jeans, make me feel like a million bucks.🤸♀️
But don’t you love the word exquisite? I love saying it. I feel the way Buddy The Elf feels when he says, “Francisco!”😂 But even more than the way it sounds, I love the way the word exquisite feels.
The definition of exquisite is, flawless craftsmanship or by beautiful, ingenious, delicate, or elaborate execution, or carefully selected.
YUMMY right???
So when I think of self care, I want all of us to be exquisite, -not so much in the way that we look, but absolutely in the way that we care for our brains and our emotional health.
Maintaining habits that make me feel centered, balanced, loved, and empowered, is at the very top of my list. Every. Single. Day.
As human beings, we have the innate desire to be our best… the best mom, the best friend, the best partner etc.. And it ALL starts with having a rock solid relationship with ourselves.
You cannot drink from an empty well.
How well do you know yourself?
What do you think about yourself on a daily basis?
What do you practice thinking about yourself, on purpose?
Do you know your dreams, and do you allow yourself to have them?
Do you feel confident?
Do you feel steady and able to handle whatever life throws at you?
Do you trust yourself to keep your word, to you?
Exquisite self care is taking the time to maintain habits that allow us to love ourselves unconditionally.
It is creating space for us to have our own backs no matter what the world may think, say or do.
It’s carefully selecting your life experience by giving your brain delicate care, and then elaborately executing your plan for creating the life you want.
That is the kind of exquisite self care I’m talking about!
What is your morning routine?
Have you taken the time to think it through and create one for yourself, or do you find yourself half-way through the day feeling a little off center and frazzled?
If you’re ready to uplevel your health and practice exquisite self care, here is my checklist.
✔️Drink water, give your insides a shower. When you wake in the morning, drink a large glass of water before eating or drinking anything else.
✔️Pray and meditate. Quieting your mind and connecting with God before starting in on your work day, will give you an added strength that will bless your life in so many unexpected ways.
✔️Move and stretch your body. Even if you only have 10 minutes, honoring your body enough to show it a little love, will help you be more intentional about the way that you care for it and more mindful of the fuel you give it.
✔️Gratitude. Find five things each morning that you are grateful for. Search for small things that you normally take for granted. Finding joy in insignificant things trains your brain to notice and be grateful for more.
✔️Have goals. Set them. Fall in love with them. Dream about them and figure out the next best step to take to move you closer to them. Anticipation is a tremendous emotion that will allow you to enjoy the journey far more than existing without an intended destination.
✔️Clean out your brain. Journal your thinking. Clean out all of the unnecessary chatter by writing it all down. Then take a look at your thinking, keep what you like, and toss the rest. Literally… roll up paper of unwanted thoughts and toss it in the can!
✔️Get coached weekly. This is my secret weapon. This is the secret sauce that has helped me achieve so many awesome things in my life. I get coached at least once a week and I recommend that you do the same. Having a qualified, insightful coach who can show you what you’re not able to see on your own, is simply invaluable.
I’d love to be your coach.
Exquisite self care doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive or done in any certain order, it just needs to be done. If this list seems overwhelming, start small, just choose one thing and do it until it becomes a habit, -then add another. It is every bit as important to your mental health as sunshine.☀️
