The Powerful Gift of Another’s Perspective

It’s no mistake that our paths have crossed, and I look forward to sharing many.
helpful new tools and concepts with you that have changed my own life in so many
ways!

Today I want to discuss the importance of a fresh perspective.

Perspective is everything, isn’t it?

Have you ever wondered why something can be such a big deal to one person,
and really nothing to someone else?

I had an experience as a young mom that really helped me to see that people are
always more important than things.

Our family had been working in the yard together, and my husband promised our
three little kiddos a Slurpee when we finished, -if they worked hard.  So, when we
were done, as promised, he loaded them up in our junky old mini-van and headed off
to 7-11.

He pulled into the parking lot, and in his excitement, our son that was sitting in the
front seat, threw the door open and banged it into the side of a brand new, VERY
beautiful BMW.  YIKES!

My husband was so embarrassed and upset, and started to get after our son for
being so careless.

But then came the miracle.
The very kind, calm and wise driver of the BMW,
stopped him and said with a smile,– “Hey, don’t worry about it! It’s just a car!”

He gave our son a pat and told him it was all okay, and went on his way without
letting my husband give him our insurance information.

His kindness was such a great gift and teaching moment, that has lasted for many
years.

Every time I’m tempted to get angry about “things,” I remember him and his calm
manner and quick forgiveness.

I remember that people are always more important than things.

I remember that the way I react is a choice.

I get to practice this every day!

That is the gift of perspective, -viewing the same situation, but through a different
lens.

That is the benefit and magic of having a coach who can show you your
thinking, in a way that highlights the path to creating new and better results in
your life.

We’re too close to our own brains to even notice where we get in our own way.  Our
lower brains offer negative thoughts ALL DAY LONG… like the ticker tape at the
bottom of the news screen.

They happen over and over again and we simply believe they are true.. without even
questioning them.

If you’re feeling stuck… this is why!  Your brain is running on auto pilot, so here’s what
you can do:

So start questioning your thoughts.

Don’t believe everything you think
.

Remember, YOU are NOT your THOUGHTS.

If you want some help, I’m here for you.
